Kiana and Colton are celebrating their anniversary today, and what’s a better way to capture this chapter in their relationship than having a Downtown Phoenix anniversary session?! But more importantly, what do Colton and Kiana have to share about one another during this special time?
From Kiana:
“We met through a mutual friend last February and quickly became close. It was so easy to talk to each other, and we found that we had a lot in common. We became very good friends, and would spend a lot of time together; getting to know one another on a deeper level. After a month we became best friends; we would tell each other everything and would go to each other if we needed to vent about something. A sweet friendship was born, but also a deeper bond started forming in each of our hearts. It wasn’t until April, after many trips and late night talks, that we finally admitted our feelings for each other. It was a surprise to each of us that the other felt the same way; that our friendship had kindled into something romantic. Even with summer quickly approaching us, we decided that we would suffer through the months of long-distance if that meant that we could be together, as a couple, once we came back to school again.

Many days were spent on FaceTime, and our romantic relationship blossomed on a very deep and emotional level. We both agree that this, along with the deep friendship we had before it all started, is what has made us so strong together; because we had to begin our relationship apart, so when we finally came together physically we were all the closer. Being together throughout this last school year has been absolutely amazing! It’s been full of adventures and trips and dates; which is all the better when you have your soulmate and best-friend by your side. We have had our arguments here and there, as every couple does, but we have always been able to get through anything due to our strong foundation. We now have a year left of school together, and then we have the rest of our lives full of new experiences and memories to make with each other. We don’t know the exact details of where life is going to lead us, but that doesn’t bother us because we know that we will spend it together, hand-in-hand, until the end. Being in love with someone is truly special, but when you are in love with your best-friend, it creates a relationship that is pure and strong; one that will last forever.”

From Colton:
“There are a lot of things that I love about Kiana, but if I had to choose one that really describes who she is it would be her selfless and caring heart. Kiana cares more about people than anyone else I know. It doesn’t matter if she has never met them before, or if they have wronged her in some way; because if they are in need of a shoulder to lean on, she will be there for them. Kiana is the type of person that drops everything she is doing in order to help out someone else; she constantly puts others first before herself. This is evident with her friends, as she is known to be dependable in any situation; and with her job, as she is known to be a dedicated and diligent worker who will always lend a helping hand.

Being her boyfriend, I get to see and experience this amazing heart of hers first-hand. She always goes out of her way to make sure I am happy and know that I am loved. Even when I mess up, am stressed, or when things get difficult, she makes sure that I know that she is there for me. She is the light in my life when I’m surrounded by darkness. She has the purest heart of anyone I have ever met, and I am blessed that she has shared it with me. Her unconditional love is a treasure to me, and I know that she will be an amazing wife and mother in the future. She is beautiful inside and out, and is my favorite person of all time. I’m just glad that I get to go through life with her right beside me. 🙂 ”

Okay, if y’all don’t have ALL the feels right now, I don’t know what to tell you anymore. Kiana and Colton were seriously the cutest to work with. They’re both attending Grand Canyon University right now, “Go Lopes!” Although, to this day I am still a die hard Sun Devils fan. I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to capture a little bit of their love story, and I can’t wait to continue following the amazing adventures these two go on! Thank you, Kiana and Colton, for choosing me as your anniversary photographer! I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to spend the early morning with in Downtown Phoenix! I wish you so many amazing years, and a happiest of anniversaries!
