There’s nothing quite like an intimate Lake House wedding, unless there’s a down pour of rain… then hail! If rain is good news, hail must be even better!
This was the last wedding I worked with while in Arizona, and I couldn’t have been more grateful to have had the chance to work with Miss Genevieve of Genevieve Hansen Photography again! She is so great to learn from, and I thank her for bringing back my creativity with detail shots! Her clients choose the best venues, and have some seriously great tastes!
One thing I love about this particular wedding is the weather difficulties we had. I guess you could say it was a blessing and a curse! While the rain (and hail) caused from some delays in wedding day portraits, as well as a thirty minute delay in the ceremony, it really worked in our favor too. The rain stopped just when we needed it to, such as during the entire ceremony, and throughout the bridal party and bride/groom portraits. I mean seriously you guys, how perfect could that be? It’s a true act of God if I may say so myself!
In addition to the nearly perfect schedule for rain, this was a great learning day for me. With all of the weddings I’ve photographed on my own, or as a secondary, I have yet to deal with a down pour of rain. Yes, even while I was living in Kansas!! The one wedding in Kansas I photographed had a 90% chance of rain that just kept dwindling in numbers as the ceremony drew closer. Once the ceremony was done, and reception started, then and only then did it decide to rain.
So, needless to say, photographing in rainy weather was something I needed to know how to pull the reins on! We worked around the weather, had huge umbrellas (and clear ones) readily available, and just went with the flow. Honestly, I think things turned out beautifully!
I hope you love these images as much as I do! This was truly an intimate lake house wedding that I’m thankful to have been a part of!
