This intimate ranch wedding in Young for Brittany and Eric’s huge day was one for the books. Sadly, it’s taken me far longer than I had planned to share, but it was just so stinking hard for me to pick out the right words to really share this wedding in the right light. For those of you that know Brittany and Eric, you’ll know that 2017 has been quite the year for them! From planning a destination wedding in the Jamaica, to discovering Brittany’s mother had cancer, to working through her passing, to completely changing their wedding plans… it’s been one heck of a year. However, I would personally like to believe that it ended in one of the most beautiful ways possible, the start of a new chapter for Brittany and Eric!
When Brittany told me about their wedding plans, and the reasoning behind this location, I knew I had to document it better than I could any other location. I didn’t want to miss any of the super significant spots on this ranch, and I knew that pretty much any place we went would hold near and dear to Brittany’s heart.
The giant tree you’ll see at their reception location was where her grandparents had their wedding ceremony. The windmill for some of their portraits? Well, her family helped get that thing running, and it’s been a part of the land since they took it on years before. There was a rundown section over yonder (just kidding.. I just don’t remember where it was actually at..) where her grandpa would take care of their cattle alongside her mom.
I guess what I’m getting at is, literally every single inch of this place just spoke so much to Brittany’s heart, and I wanted to make sure I was documenting it perfectly for her, and for her mom. Her mom was one of the people that really kept this place running through her childhood, so I knew this day was as much Brittany and Eric’s as it was her mom’s!
But less about my view of the day, and more about Brittany and Eric!

I asked Brittany and Eric what their favorite details were from the day, and this was Eric’s response:
As far as the detail item – it may sound corny but I really liked my Nebraska Huskers socks that Britt gave to me! 🙂 That’s my homeland, my school, and my team so it meant a lot to be wearing such a meaningful gift on our wedding day! And her written note that went with them was pretty special too. That girl!

From Brittany:
My favorite part about our wedding aside from the excitement of getting to marry my best friend, would have to of been just being where my mom and grandpa poured their hearts into. I felt their presence not just in days leading up, but heavily on our wedding day.
Eric never got to meet my grandpa, but everyone exchanging stories and being in awe of where we were really drove home the emotion behind why I chose to finalize “forever” with Eric there. It was full circle.

“I would have to say my favorite part was probably the Ceremony itself. For that brief time it was like all the stress and craziness leading up it just STOPPED and it was just Britt & I and all our closest family & friends in that moment and that’s all that mattered! It was beautiful.” – Eric

“Eric’s best friend, Andrew, did such an incredible job with our ceremony. It was all so touching. I was so emotional that whole day, because there wasn’t a moment that wasn’t filled with love and happiness. And that’s what the whole thing was about!!” – Brittany

“The lighting in your windmill picture gave me chills. The way the light was hitting was like rays of sunshine from heaven. So. Good!” – Brittany

When it came to the details of the day, I knew Brittany would have a ton of heart:
Favorite details is hard. I’d have to say the intimacy of the wedding itself. Almost every detail came together last minute. Eric built our arch, the dance “floor”, our guest board, our card box and helped with our centerpieces.
My Mom’s chair and saddle having a front row at our wedding and reception really was probably one of the most meaningful things. She knew Eric for a short time, and although she was such a lover by nature, she adored Eric. She was so excited when I told her he asked me to marry him. I knew she was and still is beaming with joy!

And as all great celebrations should end, booze and great tunes!
